Our approach focuses on developing fluency, automaticity, accuracy, and prosody in young readers. We believe that fluency allows children to read with confidence, while automaticity ensures they can recognise words quickly and effortlessly. Accuracy is essential for comprehension, and prosody enhances their reading by adding expression and rhythm. 

Reading for Pleasure

Our extensive library offers a diverse range of genres, ensuring that every child can find books that pique their interest. In their weekly Library session, children are encouraged to choose new authors and genres, to discuss books they have read and to share recommendations with their peers.

Engaging with a variety of texts helps children develop critical thinking skills and boosts their confidence. By promoting a culture of reading, we aim to equip all pupils with the tools they need to succeed in all their learning at primary school and beyond.
