Elm Tree Primary Academy

Vision & Values

Our Trust values of AMBITION, COLLABORATION and RESPONSIBILITY, are at the heart of everything we do at Elm Tree.

Ambition

In all aspects of school life, we aim high. Our curriculum is developed to ensure our children are motivated to learn to question ideas and concepts, think deeper and expand their knowledge and understanding of the world. Our goal is that all children reach their full potential and leave as life-long learners.

Personal development is an important part of all aspects of life at Elm Tree. All children are given opportunities to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.  Through outstanding pastoral work, our children are supported to build resilience and perseverance; are instilled with high expectations and are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning.

Collaboration

Elm Tree is a family: we learn together, build friendships together and solve problems together. Collaboration is an intrinsic part of all that we do. In our learning, children and adults work closely to ask questions, make decisions and inspire each other. Our community is supportive and inclusive - we ensure that everyone is valued, given equal opportunities and is able to contribute to school life.

Collaboration in all aspects of learning is planned to enhance children's engagement, promote effective teamwork and foster deeper thinking. Working with their peers, children learn to listen respectfully, to empathise and develop excellent communication skills.

Responsibility

At Elm Tree we encourage our children to be responsible for their actions and choices in their learning, in their friendships and in their conduct. Our work through PSHE, our ambassador groups and class collaboration expose children to their responsibilities as members of their community and as global citizens.

Our children are given opportunities from Reception to Year 6 to grow as responsible individuals:  promoting a yearly charity; caring for and developing our environment; working in pupil groups such as the prefect body and ensuring our children have a voice in their learning and the wider school life, fosters a sense of an individual's rights and their responsibilities.
